BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate an SIT probe under CBI with nominees of other Central intelligence and enforcement agencies into the mysterious death of Sunanda Tharoor in the wake of revelations by Dr Sudhir Gupta.
Swamy said Sunanda's unnatural death was soon after she started disclosing the details of the murky world of IPl and betting.
In the letter to Prime Minister, Swamy pointed out that the FIR registered in this matter has not yet been acted upon. “From uncontradicted reports in the media, it is clear that the autopsy report shows twelve major injuries on Sunanda's body and puncture in her forearm indicating an injection having been administered, and her blood tested as containing poison which has not yet been identified.
“Hence, I urge you to set up an SIT under the Central Bureau of Investigation with not only IB and RAW nominees but also of the Enforcement Directorate in view of the fact that the cause of death could have something to do with her threat of disclosure of the money laundering in the IPl Scam, involving the son-in-law of a powerful political figure of the UPA. Now, the affidavit filed in the CAT by Dr. Gupta, the Head of the Forensic Department in AIIMS, a gold medalist, has fully re-opened the issue,” said Swamy.
