The Government has decided to allot Government accommodation to senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on security considerations and allowed former Punjab DGP KPS Gill and Chairman of Anti-Terrorism Front MS Bitta to retain Government accommodation on the same grounds.
The Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, took the decisions in this regard on Thursday, said sources in the Urban Development Ministry here.
The CCA also allowed Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat to retain Government accommodation in the capital on medical grounds. According to sources, the CCA further decided to allot Government accommodation to Prasar Bharati chairman Surya Prakash for the period of his tenure.
Sources said the CCA has considered that Swamy is a Z-category protectee with CRPF cover and since there was no place at his present place of residence for deployment of the armed guards, he needed a proper Government accommodation for effective deployment of his security for five years. He will have to pay five times the normal license fee.
