Swamy for stricture on MDMK general secy

Vaiko, the acerbic general secretary of the MDMK, has landed himself in trouble for his frequent outbursts against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP over the approach of the new Government to the Sri lankan Government.

Subramanian Swamy, senior BJP leader met party president Amit Shah and the general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and asked them to take a decision on the legality of the MDMK’s continuance in the National democratic Alliance.

“The BJP has to take a decision on Vaiko’s continuance in the NDA in view of his crass anti-nationalism and covert secessionist pronouncements. Vaiko had recently appeared before a Tribunal to argue that the five-year ban imposed by the Union Government on the foreign terrorist organisation lTTE should be lifted. He has been abusive in his speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for engaging Sri lanka. He has also soft peddled the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and of scores of Sri lanka’s democratic Tamil leaders,” Swamy said in a statement after meeting Shah and Rudy.

Tuesday saw Vaiko coming down heavily on the Modi government for its friendly gestures to the Mahinda Rajapaksa Government in Sri lanka. He warned the Centre that people in Tamil Nadu would teach the Union Government a lesson for its friendship with Sri lanka.
