Reacting to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's barbs against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on prohibition, former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi asked why he was not asking Congress leadership for implementation of prohibition in Congress ruled Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttrakhand, Meghalaya and Mizoram.

Modi said when Nitish was opening liquor outlets in villages and near educational institutions he did not realise that there was no place of liquor in socialism. “After 64 years of age Nitish has come to realise that prohibition is real socialism,” he quipped. Modi also pointed out that even in left ruled States liquor was available and in Delhi too thee was no prohibition. He said Nitish had been elected by the people to serve Bihar and not to preach prohibition in the country.
