Sushil says not BJP, people of Bihar fear JD(U)-RJD tie-up

A day after former Bihar Chief Minister and senior ruling party leader Nitish Kumar had said that the BJP is gripped with fear psychosis over a probable tie-up between the JD(U) and the RJD, the senior State BJP leader Shushil Kumar Modi on Friday retorted that it was not the BJP but the people of the State who are afraid over possibility of the return of jungle raj after their alliance.

"The BJP is not scared but the prospects of this alliance have generated fear among the citizens who feel the jungle raj may return after the two parties coming closer with each other," said Modi. While taking a dig at Nitish Kumar and his party which had fought against jungle raj of the RJD for nearly two decades, now has joined hands with them just to "counter BJP".

"They should rechristen their party as Rashtriya Janata Dal-United," Modi suggested. The BJP leader further said that even before their formal merger, crime and corruption has increased manifold in the State. "Mere thinking at the possibility of them joining hands together criminals have become emboldened and everywhere incidents of lot and murder are taking place everyday," charged the BJP leader.

Earlier, Kumar had said that though there have been no talks on alliance between the JD(U) and the RJD so far "but the BJP seems upset with the mere possibility of it". Nitish Kumar had also favoured a grand alliance of all secular parties, including the Congress to counter the BJP in the country and the State as well. Meanwhile, leader of Opposition in the State Assembly and BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav too has alleged that criminal incidents has increased ever since there has been talk of the possible alliance between the two parties in the State.

The BJP leader also demanded that the Government should probe the spurt in incidents of bank loot as it might be linked with the funding of terrorist activities in the State. "I've requested the Government to probe such links as it has disclosed that such loot money was used in two terrorist activities happened in the State, one in Gandhi Maidan and another at Bodh Gaya," said Nand Kishore Yadav.
