At least 12 express trains were diverted and three passenger trains cancelled on Monday following derailment of four coaches of Surat-Nandurbar passenger train near Gujarat-Maharashtra border.
Four out of twelve coaches of passenger train between Nandurbar to Surat derailed due to soil erosion beneath the tracks on Sunday at around 11.30 pm.
Sources in the Western Railways said that there was no casualty reported. Stranded passengers of the train were later on sent to their destination by the railway authority, said the official.
Heavy rains have washed out the soil beneath the tracks connecting Dhekvad and Nandurbar area, said the sources, adding that nearly 400 meters of track was washed out in different locations.
As the repair work initiated, the railway traffic would be normalised by Monday evening on the route.
