Malayalam movie superstar Dileep is likely to be named as first accused in the sensational case pertaining to the conspiracy behind the brutal attack on a frontline actress in February. The Kerala High Court had on October 3 granted bail to Dileep, who spent 84 days under detention in judicial remand in the Sub Jail in Aluva, his hometown near Kochi following his arrest on July 10 for conspiring to attack the actress.
The superstar presently is the eleventh accused in the case in which Sunil Kumar alias Pulsar Suni of Perumbavoor, a habitual criminal who along with some of his fellow-hoodlums had attacked the actress, is the first accused. Suni, according to sources, could be named as the second accused in the conspiracy case.
Dileep may be named as second accused in the additional chargesheet which a special team of the Kerala which probed the conspiracy is expected to submit shortly. The special probe team headed by Additional Director General of Police B Sandhya will hold a meeting along with legal experts most probably on Thursday – to take a final decision on the matter.
The police are likely to slap on Dileep extremely serious charges including those of conspiracy, gang rape, kidnapping, destruction of evidences, protecting the accused and threatening. They have already prepared an additional report containing direct, circumstantial and scientific evidences which would be given along with the chargesheet.
The special probe team may submit the additional chargesheet next week at the Judicial Magistrate Court in Angamaly near Kochi, the trial court. “This could be the most comprehensive and accurate chargesheet prepared by the Kerala Police have prepared in recent times,” said a source close to the special team.
The police are planning to name Dileep as the second accused in the case on the basis of the legal advice that there is no difference in the eyes of the law between the assailant of the actress and the person who ordered the attack. legal experts are of the view that conspiracy behind the crime is as grave as the crime itself.
The frontline actress was assaulted and video-graphed in the awkward condition by a gang led by Suni, the hoodlum allegedly hired by Dileep, in a car on the night of February 17 when she was on her way to Kochi from Thrissur. Suni and some of his associates were arrested within a week of the incident and the first chargesheet in the case was filed subsequently.
The police have also come to the conclusion that the superstar had directly overseen the criminal act.
They have also found that only Dileep and none of the other accused persons had any personal grudge towards the actress. According to them, Dileep had given Suni a Rs 1.5-crore ‘quotation’ to attack Suni in order to take revenge on her over some family-related grudge.
The police will cite in the chargesheet the necessity of taking the probe further even after its submission mainly because the mobile camera used for video-graphing the actress during the assault is yet to be recovered. They say that if the video get leaked it could seriously affect the case and can have serious social repercussions.
The probe team has already collected more than 20 decisive evidences against the superstar. Statements of confession, witness statements, statements given before the court under Section 164 of the CrPC, forensic reports, high-tech and cyber evidences, direct and circumstantial evidences, etc might be submitted in separate folders along with the chargesheet, sources said.
