Continuing his attack on RJD supremo lalu Prasad and his kin, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said the family during the past 20 years has usurped a number of plots of land which were “gifted” to him by known and unknown persons and thus became the biggest “landlord” of Bihar.
Modi alleged that lalu and his family members was “gifted” land by politicians like Raghunath Jha, Kanti Singh, both former Union Ministers, Prabhunath Yadav, Subhash Choudhary, lalan Choudhary and Hridyanand Choudhary. Jha donated 6 kathas of land on NH and a three storied house to lalu’s sons Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in 2005. Similalry Kanti Singh gifted a house and 9 decimalm of land to both lalu sons.
He further alleged that one lalan Choudhary, who worked at lalu’s khatal and was given a job of peon in Bihar legislative Council and he gifted land to Rabri Devi and her daughter Hema. Another person Hriddyanand Choudhary who got the job of khalasi in railway when lalu was Railway Minister gifted land to the family. Subhash Choudahry gifted 14 decimal land to Misa Bharti in 2003, he alleged.
Modi was reacting to lalu’s denial that Rama Devi, now BJP MP, had gifted land in Muzaffarpur to lalu’s sons. The RJD supremo said he would file a defamation suit against Modi because he or his sons did not own any land gifted by Rama Devi, wife of former Minister late Brij Bihari Prasad and that he had cancelled the registry of that land. “It is a false claim that Rama Devi gifted 13 acres of alnd to Tej Pratap when he was barely four years old,” lalu said.
“Rama Devi, who was then in RJD, had gifted land to Tej Pratap without his or my consent and the transfer of land was cancelled after he took exception to it,” said RJD chief.
Modi said lalu admitted that the land had been gifted but was later its transfer was cancelled. He also questioned why not the land gifted by other people was cancelled. When lalu was clarifying that the gift deed was cancelled by the registrar at Muzaffarpur registry office where it was originally executed, he did not make any disclosure about other gifted lands. “If he is really honest he should cancel other lands value of which runs into crores of rupees gifted to his sons, daughters and wife,” Modi challenged.
