Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday charged former CM Rabri Devi of selling eight flats in Patna to sand mafia. Dishing out documentary evidence, including sale deed papers, he said on a single day, June 13, 2017, two sand mafias purchased her eight flats for a total price of Rs 3.28 crore.
“This shows the close links of RJD chief lalu Prasad and the sand mafia and also an attempt to white the black money,” said Sushil Modi and pointed out that one Subhash Yadav, a notorious sand mafia of Danapur, and another sand mafia and RJD MlA Arun Yadav had purchased three and five flats respectively on the same day.
These flats are located at Maa Marachia Devi complex in Patna which is named after lalu’s mother.
Arun Yadav, the RJD MlA from Sandesh in Bhojpur district, was also accused of arms smuggling. Modi said a criminal Ranjit Choudhary was caught with imported arm on Wednesday and he admitted before the police that he purchased this arm from Arun Yadav. With the MlA absconding, the police arrested his daughter’s father-in-law and recovered some arms and ammunition from his home.
Modi said Arun Yadav, his wife Kiran Devi and two sons Rajesh Kumar and Dipu Kumar utilized their Rs 2.56 crore black money and made it white by purchasing five flats, each costing Rs 87.50 lakh.
The RJD MlA purchased flats through his company Kiran Durga Contractors Pvt ltd, Agiaon, Bhojpur. This company also bought ten tractors, two JCB and two Poklen machines which were being used by Subhash Yadav’s Broadson Construction, Vanshidhar Construction and Mor Mukut Company for illegal sand mining, he alleged.
The Deputy CM further revealed that Arun Yadav purchased a Pajero Sports car for Rs 24.31 lakh and took loan from a bank. The witness for this loan was Subhash Yadav. “Why a construction company purchased so many flats and sports car and why only sand mafias purchased Rabri Devi’s eight flats on a single day in June lastIJ” asked Modi. He said lalu gave Assembly ticket to Arun Yadav in 2015 denying two-term RJD MlA Vijendra Yadav.
“I challenge lalu Prasad to deny that Rabri Devi did not sell flats to sand mafia and if he has any allegation against me with documentary evidence I would certainly reply to them,” said Modi. The RJD supremo has accused Modi besides others for their involvement in the fund transfer scam of Bhagalpur. CM Nitish Kumar has recommended CBI probe into that scam. “The CM decided for CBI probe on lalu’s demand but I am sure he would not be satisfied with this probe too and may demand an inquiry by the UNO,” Modi said.
