Bengal’s students of the year have dedicated their ISC results to the man of the moment, Narendra Modi.
A whole lot of those who broke the 95-plus per cent barrier are not only inspired by Modi, but they want to do a Modi as well, “as in these idol-less days of hollow film stars and cricketers no one inspires more than Modi Babu today, whose rags-to-riches story would give many a struggling Indian a reason to “slog it out harder”. “He is the only hope for India and its youth.”
Sourav Goyal, the Don Bosco Siliguri boy who has supposedly topped in the ISC exams in Bengal asserts, “no one inspires more than Mr Modi who is an epitome of strength and courage. Here is one man who seems to have an answer for all our woes. He must be allowed to work quietly so that India can see a turnaround.”
Goyal is a student of commerce and is planning to proceed with Economics. Nidhi, another successful girl who has got a position in the top ten confidently says, “ab acchhe din ayenge (now good days will come)”, only to be stopped in the midst of her sentence by another classmate who says, “acchhe din aa gaye (the good days have already arrived).”
Kabya, a student who has scored more than 95 per cent and belongs to a business family, however, has a word of caution “we must not expect too much from him. After all he is also a human being and has his own limitations. Don’t think that he will manufacture jobs every day. He will have to work within the limitations of our existing economic system. He should be given a chance first to repair the punctured economy and then take it ahead.”
Another pass-out Ayushree whose father is a ‘sidelined’ Trinamool Congress worker said, “I dedicate my result to Modiji, my father has decided to join the BJP after being inspired by him.” The student who wants to do her masters in literature and take the civil services exams thereafter, hopes “one day I will be able to do a lot of social work for my country men.” Unlike many of her batch mates she is an ardent follower of newspapers.
“like Modiji” she is also inclined towards Ramakrishna Mission and is a great admirer of Sri Ramakrishna Parama-hansa and Mother Saradha. “It is astonishing to note how the monks at the Mission had predicted some great work for Modiji and see where he is now. God must be having many things in store for him and for the country, particularly the youth,” she maintains.
