The Bengal unit of the BJP on Sunday demanded a CBI investigation into the murder of a student crusader by alleged Trinamool Congress miscreants at Bamangachi in North 24 Parganas district.
BJP State president Rahul Sinha who personally visited the victim’s family said, “as the miscreants from the ruling party are involved in the murder, the police will not carry out an impartial probe much like the numerous other cases. So we demand a CBI inquiry so that the culprits get arrested fast and justice is met out to the victim’s family.”
There was massive uproar throughout the State after a college student was on Friday night brutally killed by alleged Trinamool miscreants who cut his body into nine pieces before throwing it at the railway tracks.
The boy who was to celebrate his 20th birthday this week was eliminated because he raised his voice against hooch trade, extortion, building racket and rising crime against women. The brutality of the murder was such that the local doctors at Bongaon police morgue could not perform the autopsy and referred the body parts to Kolkata where they were first stitched into one before the post mortem was done, locals said.
“The brutality itself tends to be a warning to the protesting people against raising their heads,” said the brother of the victim adding, “We don’t have any faith in this Government and the Chief Minister so we demand a CBI inquiry.” The ghastly murder saw countless people spontaneously joining protests and blockading rail and road traffic on Saturday.
The general outrage was so much that the dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the BJP on Sunday was near complete. large parts of North 24 Parganas — bordering Kolkata — have seen a tremendous rise in criminal activities like rape, murder, trafficking etc in the past a few years. Meanwhile, even as Shyamal Karmakar, the prime accused, remained at large the locals reportedly caught hold of one of his cronies and handed him over to the police.
