Andhra Pradesh High Court has expressed its unhappiness with the indefinite strike by the Government employees in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions and wondered how Government servants can participate in political activities.
The High Court remarks came as the indefinite strike by 4,50,000 employees has entered 12th day and 2,50,000 Government teachers were also going to join the strike.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyotisen Gupta and Justice KC Bhanu issued notices to the AP Non-Gazetted Officers Association and the Seemandhra Secretariat employees forum asking them to file their reply by Monday.
The bench also issued notices to the Central and the State Governments to submit their reports about the process of bifurcation of the State.
However, adopting a devil may care attitude, APNGO president Ashok Babu said that employees strike was not a political activity but part of a people’s movement against the proposed bifurcation of the State.
Babu said that if the Congress leaders from Seemandhra regions submit their resignations, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will come to Hyderabad to stop the process of bifurcation. “We will campaign to ensure the defeat of pro-bifurcation political parties in the next elections”, he warned.
While APNGO’s Association was gearing up to further intensify the indefinite strike and Seemandhra employees in the Secretariat were gearing up for indefinite strike from September 2, Telangana NGOs association has alleged that APNGOs had no right to call for strike in the Secretariat. Alleging that APNGOs Association president was acting in violation of service rules, it demanded his dismissal from the service.
Confrontation also appears to be developing between the two regions over the question of conducting a public meeting in Hyderabad by APNGOs to protest against proposal to form Telangana State. The APNGOS has approached the police for permission to hold the public meeting at lal Bahadu Stadium in Hyderabad.
Two prominent Congress MPs from Telangana, Madhu Yashki Goud and Ponam Prabhkar, also warned against any move to hold such a meeting in Hyderabad and said that it will worsen the tense situation.
“CWC resolution is final and those who cant accept it should quit the party”, Ponam Prabhakar said.“We will never accept any move to make Hyderabad a UT. It should be the capital of Telangana,” said Madhu Yashki.
Meanwhile, CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who along with other Seemandhra leaders had appeared before the Antony Committee in New Delhi and made a case against bifurcation returned Hyderabad on Wednesday without success.
