The BJP’s 15-day Jana Raksha Yatra against ‘jehad and Red Terror’ in Kerala came to a close on Tuesday at State capital Thiruvananthapuram with party president Amit Shah warning the CPI(M) that it would meet its doom if it did not abandon its politics of murderous violence.
“I want to give a warning to the CPI(M). The Congress has become irrelevant in India because of its corruption and family rule. The CPI(M) is going to get doomed because of its affinity to the politics of Himsa,” Shah said while addressing a 50,000-strong audience of BJP leaders, workers and supporters at the Putharikandam grounds in Thiruvananthapuram.
Stating that the CPI(M) killers had murdered 13 BJP-RSS workers in Kerala in a short period since lDF came to power, Shah said, “Most of these murders took place in the district (Kannur) of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. I have a question for Mr Pinarayi: Will you own up the moral responsibility for the murders of these innocent BJP workersIJ”
Pointing out that whenever the left had come to power in Kerala, the CPI(M) had gone on campaigns of murder, Shah said, “Between 1996 and 2001, 30 BJP-RSS workers were killed. They killed 28 of our men between 2006 and 2011. Now, within this short time since coming to power last year, they have killed 13 of our workers.”
The BJP chief said the politics of violence of the CPI(M) was not confined to Kerala. “The CPI(M) has been showing the same affinity to violence in Tripura. They had been doing this in West Bengal when they were in power,” Shah, who had flagged off the Yatra at Payyannur, Kannur on October 3, said.
“It shocks me to see that the CPI(M) is continuing to annihilate our innocent workers even 70 years after Independence just because they believe in and work for the ideology of the BJP and RSS. I want to tell the Marxists this much: You can annihilate as many of our men as you want. But you cannot kill the ideology of BJP.”
“Mr Chief Minister… Do you want to oppose usIJ If you want to fight us, fight us over the issue of development. Fight that war over poverty-eradication. Without doing this, your party is indulging in politics of Himsa. What kind of a politics is thatIJ What kind of principles are you putting forwardIJ” the BJP president asked.
Stating that the overwhelming response from the part of the people in Kerala to the march had stunned the Chief Minister and his party, Shah alleged that the lDF Government had entered into some kind of adjustment with the Congress and UDF it headed and this reflected in the reluctance to take action against the UDF leaders accused in the solar scam.
Shah concluded his speech as chief guest at the function with a firm promise to the families and relatives of the BJP-RSS workers who had fallen prey to the Marxist killers’ daggers that he and his party would pursue to the very end the battle to ensure maximum punishment the law of the land would grant to their killers.
Earlier, Amit Shah led the Padayatra, which had started at Sreekaryam where local RSS leader Kallampally Rajesh was hacked to death by a CPI(M) killer gang, from Palayam in the capital city to the venue of the public meeting named after the Balidani at Putharikandam grounds where thousands had assembled to listen to his speech.
The Yatra, captained by State BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan, had traversed 11 of the 14 districts of Kerala and 140 KM of the distance was covered by the Yatris on foot. Kummanam thanked the thousands who had joined the Yatra for making it a huge success.
“The Jana Raksha Yatra has opened a new chapter in Kerala’s political history,” Kummanam said.
The Padayatra on the concluding day was inaugurated by Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan who said, “This Yatra is not just a BJP programme but it is the Raksha Yatra of the entire Kerala people.” Union Ministers Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Alphons Kannanthanam and several other national and State leaders of the BJP and NDA allies participated in it on Tuesday.
