Sting probe: CBI questions U'khand CM

Published on:

CBI on Tuesday questioned Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat in connection with its enquiry into a sting operation in which he is purportedly seen trying to influence some dissident Congress MlAs.

The agency had called Rawat to appear on Tuesday as during his questioning on May 24, he is understood to have not answered certain queries to the satisfaction of the probe team, sources claimed.

However, Rawat had rubbished the claims saying he had fully cooperated with the agency.

CBI had registered a Preliminary Enquiry (PE) on April 29 to probe the “sting operation” purportedly showing Rawat offering bribes to rebel Congress lawmakers to support him during a floor test in the Uttarakhand Assembly.

Rawat has denied the allegation and called the video fake after it was released by the rebel Congress legislators but later admitted that he was on camera in the sting operation.
