In an exclusive interaction with The Pioneer, Priya Ranjan, recently selected as the new Director In-Charge (DIC) and currently serving as Executive Director (Works) at Bokaro Steel Plant, laid out his clear vision for the future of the unit. “Steel Plant means Bokaro Steel Plant,” he said with conviction, emphasising his intent to position BSL as the most profitable and modernised steel plant in the country.
Ranjan, who brings with him vast operational expertise from Burnpur Steel Plant and years of experience in SAIL operations, outlined his roadmap focusing on three key pillars — profitability, safety, and green steel.
He stressed that enhanced production and benchmark profits will define the plant’s performance, while safety will remain a non-negotiable standard across all operations. Linking his roadmap with the larger vision of SAIL, Ranjan reiterated CMD Amarendu Prakash’s consistent emphasis on reducing emissions and adopting green steel practices.
He noted that BSL would align with this corporate vision by pursuing sustainable production methods, making it a model steel plant for the future.
On the global market challenges, Ranjan expressed confidence that collaborative efforts within the organization will help BSL overcome hurdles and maintain its growth trajectory. He also highlighted the supportive role of the Government, which, he said, has ensured steady growth of the Indian steel industry despite international headwinds.
Notably Ranjan’s appointment as the next Director In-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant has already been cleared by the Public Enterprises Selection Board and now awaits cabinet approval. In the meantime, his role as ED (Works) at Bokaro ensures leadership continuity while giving him vital exposure to the plant’s operations.
He further underlined that a portion of the profits generated by the plant would be directed towards strengthening township facilities and boosting medical infrastructure, ensuring that employees and local communities directly benefit from BSL’s growth.
Extending his greetings to the people of Bokaro for the upcoming festival season, Priya Ranjan wished peace, prosperity and collective progress for all, reaffirming his commitment to lead BSL into a new era of growth, safety, and sustainability.
