The Haryana Government on Friday announced an ex gratia of `50 lakh and a Government job for one family member of Major Amit Deswal of 21 Para who was killed on Wednesday in an encounter with militants in Manipur's Tamenglong district.
Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar said here the government is committed to honouring such brave soldiers and look after the well-being of their dependents. He had come here to the native village of the Major to attend his funeral.
Maj Deswal of 21 Para SF was killed in a gunbattle with Zeliangrong United Front militants in forested Nungba area of Manipur.
