The Congress accused both the Samajwadi Party and the BJP for not working under the democratic right of the students and depriving them to elect their representatives. “The present State Government led by the SP and the Central Government led by the BJP had no concern to ensure the democratic right of every student to elect their leaders thus they were doing nothing to conduct union elections for last many years,” alleged Congress leader Deepak Singh, who resigned from the post of Member of Railway Passengers Committee having Cabinet Minister rank, soon after the BJP came to power. “The college and universities are deemed to be nurseries of upcoming leaders in this country and many veteran leaders were a product of students union, so for a healthy atmosphere for grooming politicians, the State Government as well as the Centre must restore union polls in the State”, asserted Singh.
