The mock-assembly staged by the DMK MlAs under the leadership of MK Stalin, leader of the Opposition, outside Fort Saint George (Tamil Nadu legislative Assembly) on Friday has landed them in trouble. The Fort Saint George Police filed cases against Stalin and 59 MlAs on Sunday for assembling in front of the legislative Assembly and holding demonstration causing inconvenience to the secretariat staff as well as the general public.

The DMK MlAs had been evicted en masse by the Marshals last Wednesday for creating ruckus in the Assembly and were later suspended for one week from attending the session are on a warpath with the Government. Though they tried to gate-crash into the  House on Thursday, the security staff denied them entry into the House. This resulted in Friday’s mock-assembly in which the ruling party members were mimicked and lampooned by the DMK MlAS with Durai Murugan donning the role of Speaker and Stalin becoming the leader of the House.

What was staged as a model Assembly ended up in lampooning the Speaker of the House and the AIADMK Ministers. The general public as well as the Secretariat Staff were put to many difficulties as a result of the sit-in staged by the DMK MlAs outside the Secretariat. People from many places had come to the Secretariat to present petitions to the Chief Minister’s Special Cell and many had to go back following the chaos in the Secretariat premises and the heavy police bandobust. The case has been filed under different sections for assembling without permission.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on Monday will consider the petition filed by the DMK challenging the one-week suspension of party MlAs from the Assembly.
