In a fresh case of fratricidal killing, a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan early on Tuesday morning went berserk and killed two of his colleagues with his service weapon inside Kishwar police lines.
According to police, SSB jawan identified as Vijay Kumar allegedly opened fire from his service weapon after a reported scuffle between them around 1.00 am.
SSB jawans were camping inside Kishtwar police lines and were sent to replace CRPF jawans. Superintendent of Police (SP) Kulbir Singh said, “Two soldiers have died while two others have been injured in the shooting.” He said Vijay Kumar has been arrested and is being interrogated.
The deceased jawans have been identified as Narinder Singh and Veer Singh. The two other injured SSB troopers — Ravinder Nath and Habib-ul-Islam — are undergoing treatment for bullet injuries at the Kishtwar hospital.
