SP's State executive meeting postpond

The proposed meeting of Samajwadi Party State executive scheduled for October 6 has been postponed. No reason was officially ascribed for the postponment.

It was considered to be crucial for being the first conclave of the executive after the bitter intra-family feud in SP’s first family leading to the expulsion of four MlCs, chiefs of four youth outfits and 100 other young leaders.

Besides, the meeting of district chiefs, general secretaries and other office bearers of the party has also been cancelled. Party spokesman Mohammed Shahid without assigning any specific reason said on Friday that the State executive meet has been postponed. “Fresh dates would be announced after Navratri festival and Dussehra,” he however added.

Earlier, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had cancelled the proposed Rs Vikas Se Vijay Ke Or yatra’  scheduled to be flagged off from lucknow on October 3. later, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's rally kckstarting the vcampaign for the 2017 Assembly polls in Azamgarh on October 6 was also cancelled. However, in both cases, the party did ascribe any reason for calling off the events.

Meanwhile, SP sources said that it was decided to postpone the meet as Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was not available in lucknow on October 6 and will inaugurate an international-level swimming pool in Sefai of Etawah. Besides, the CM will also formally release deer in the lion Safari at Etawah.

"The absence of the CM from the high-level conclave would have caused embarrassment to the party and send negative signals to the cadres," said the sources.

They further claimed that though the SP brass had relented and restored Akhilesh Yadav to the post of Chairman of state Parliamentary Board, he is unhappy with the move to expel youth leaders, most of whom are close to him.

A senior party leader said that the Chief Minister has conveyed to party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav that unless the issue of youth leaders' expulsion was resolved, there was no point in convening the state executive meeting.
