As the Government gears up for its first big Budget next month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his Ministers to get “out of the box” ideas from the common man through electronic means including web portals of various Ministries so that they can be incorporated in the Union Budget. The PM asked Ministers to ensure that the budgetary allocations for their respective Ministries are spent evenly throughout the year instead of rushing up at the end of financial year to finish the funds.
The Government has already begun the process of consultation with various groups which include experts and people from industry in the run up to the Budget 2015. During a special meeting on the Budget, PMO officials made a presentation on e-books being prepared by various Ministries.
The Prime Minister asserted that transparency in governance should be achieved through e-means. He also asked the Ministers to put the seven northeastern States as well as Sikkim on their map and asked them to spend “reasonable” duration of time in these States, MoS for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
Rudy said PM’s emphasis was on taking as many ideas as possible from the people. Modi said ‘Swachchh Bharat’ tagline was also a result of such interactions with the citizens.
Urging Ministries to work in such a fashion that their budgetary allocations are spread evenly throughout the year, the PM said spending the allocations uniformly is the best way to ensure that Ministries get the desired budgetary allocation in the next financial year.
