SP ready for early polls: Akhilesh

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav hit out at his political opponents and claimed that his Government was ready for early Assembly elections.

“The elections in UP is likely to start from the first week of February but I wanted to tell that I was even ready for earlier elections,” quipped Yadav while asking his party workers to do some leg work if they wanted to see him back in the power. Yadav made above comments while addressing them soon after releasing a coffee table book UP-The Growth Factory, here on Sunday afternoon.

Hitting out at Mayawati without taking her name,  Yadav said that a leader of a party did not want him to call her bua. “The stone work done by her is now of no use, but the stone work done by the Samajwadi Party Government got praises from everyone", he asserted. Yadav was indirectly reacting to recent Mayawati’s comment on his laying of foundation stones. Mayawati had said that when the SP Government is now completing its term, Akhilesh was in a hurry to lay maximum foundation stone even before completing ground work.

Further taking on the BJP Government, Akhilesh said that they somehow came to power at the Center by promising achchhe din. “Did anyone saw any good work taken by that Government,” he asked while adding that when the Opposition had nothing against him on development agenda, they just tried to criticise him on some other front. He even took a jibe over display of how smooth his new lucknow-Agra Expressway is. “A video footage showed that how not a drop of water came out of filled glass kept in a SUV which was driven at a speed of about 100 kms per hour. It pointed that how smooth work has been carried out by his Government on lucknow-Agra Expressway,” said Akhilesh saying that even the Opposition now found some or the other way to criticise him.

Akhilesh while pointing out how his Government made balance on development agenda, said that how on one hand, his Government constructed 302-kilometer long Agra-lucknow Expressway in a record time which will connect State capital with national capital, but they were also connecting all the district head-quarters with four-way lane highways. “We created infrastructure but made a balance. If we built long expressway, we also laid down world’s longest Cycle Highway from Agra to lion Safari,” he pointed out adding that whether it was health, education, sport or any other sector, the State had witnessed development on all front.

Akhilesh also gave a strong message to his party workers to go and work in field if they wanted to see their party coming back to power. “Some leaders had not prepared slogans and called me ‘Kohinoor’. Do you know that Kohinoor is kept in a museum for last several years", he said while directing his slogan shouting supporters that less than five months has now left for election so they all should go and work in field if they wanted to see him back in power. “Such slogans sounds good only if you are in the Government,” asserted Yadav while passing on clear message to stop shouting slogans in his favour, instead to work for the party’s comeback after the next elections.
