Trying to wriggle out of the piquant situation State Government finds itself after the High Court verdict on terror accused, Urban Development Minister Md Azam Khan said that Samajwadi Party Government would seek an approval from the Centre to withdraw terror cases against innocent Muslim youths.
“The State law Department will examine the reasons as why the lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had rejected State Government’s decision to withdraw cases against the youths,” he told reporters while reacting to the full bench verdict.
Minister said UP Government will approach the Centre with a request to withdraw the fake cases filed against innocent Muslims.
Earlier in the day the full bench of the High Court had said that the State Government has no power to withdraw cases against terror accused as they have been booked under the Central Acts.
However, the Minister did not miss the opportunity to accuse the Congress-led UPA Government of depriving the Muslim of their rights.
“The Centre was keen to approve the Food Security Bill but they are not concerned about the security of the life of the Muslims,” he said.
Khan said that the Centre allots funds for the uplift of the Muslims but not a single penny reaches the people for whom it is aimed. Most of the funds remain unspent.
“Muslims are denied education facilities and when people like me try to do something by setting up an institution like Md Jahaur Ali University, political parties oppose it for their own vested interests,” he said.
He said that the funds given to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Education Foundation remains unutilised and as funding is being done by the centre the Union Government should question this foundation.
