Sonia Gandhi adopts aggressive posture before Italian Govt

Being targeted by the Opposition on Italian marine issue, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday adopted an aggressive posture and flayed the Italian Government for betraying a commitment made to the Supreme Court.

She demanded that all measures be taken to ensure that Italy honours the commitment.

“The defiance of the Italian Government on the question of the two marines and its betrayal of a commitment to our Supreme Court is outright unacceptable. No country can and should be allowed to take India for granted. All means must be pursued to ensure that the commitment made by the Italian Government to the Supreme Court is honoured,” Sonia said while addressing the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting. .

Significantly, Congress has been under attack from the Opposition, which alluding to Sonia’s Italian origin, has been questioning why accused having links with Italy escape Indian laws starting from the time of the Bofors scandal.
