Fabindia’s Managing Director William Bissell and CEO Subrata Dutta were grilled by the Goa Police Crime Branch in connection with the “snoopgate” probe along with eight senior officials of the company on Friday.
Their appearance comes after a local court granted the officials interim relief from being arrested while it hears their application for anticipatory bail.
“We are questioning them about the CCTV protocol followed by the company to try fix responsibility for what happened,” an official said.
“Bissell reaffirmed that the company will continue to assist and provide full co-operation to the Crime Branch,” the statement reads.
The fashion boutique company also said that in all 12 Fabindia officials have so far met with the Crime Branch investigation team and recorded their respective statements.
Bissell, Dutta and others were summoned by police on earlier occasions but they repeatedly sought time and appeared only once there was a surety againt their arrest.
Four junior employees of Fabindia were arrested last week and released after a day on bail after Union Minister Smriti Irani allegedly said that the CCTV had a view of the trial room of the niche boutique at Candolim.
The four have been booked under sections 354C (voyeurism), 509 (intrusion of privacy) and IT Act’s section 66E (capturing, publishing image of private area of any person without his/her consent) of the Indian Penal Code.
Chaitrali Sawant, the store manager, however, secured anticipatory bail on April 7 and is being questioned by the Crime Branch.
