Snoopgate: SC to pronounce order today

Published on:

The Supreme Court will pronounce its order on Wednesday on the demand by suspended Gujarat IAS officer Pradeep Sharma for a CBI probe into the Snoopgate controversy involving Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

The Bench of Justices Ranjana Prakash Desai and NV Ramana while hearing the case barred Sharma's counsel to raise contents of the Snoopgate controversy after it had asked him to drop all contentious references made against the former Gujarat Chief Minister from his petition.

Sharma had alleged that the Government had illegally snooped on him and on a lady architect, proof of which was made available through a sting operation conducted by two websites showing how the State police was used to snoop on the two persons. Sharma also filed another petition seeking transfer of all criminal cases lodged against him by Gujarat Police to be transferred to CBI.

The Bench, however, made it clear that it is not concerned about personality and dispensation of the Government at the Centre and it will go only by the rule books.
