Vellappally Natesan, general secretary of SNDP Yogam, the outfit of Hindu lower caste Ezhavas who constitute over 20 percent of the Kerala population, has reiterated the determination to  launch a political party of majority communities of the State under the Yogam’s leadership despite the serious charges leveled by different quarters against him. “There is no question of withdrawing from the move that has already been initiated. A decision has been taken to form a political party under the leadership of the majority communities. We will go ahead with that decision,” Natesan, who is facing charges of corruption and involvement in the murder of a spiritual leader, said in Alappuzha on Sunday.

Pointing out that the allegations against him and related controversies had erupted after his recent meeting with Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Natesan said that the Yogam was determined to go ahead with the plan for forming a party. He said he was ready to face any investigation regarding the allegations leveled against him.

The Yogam had at a meeting held in Cherthala, Alappuzha on October 5 decided to launch a political party of majority communities with the agenda of fighting for “social justice to all”. Making an announcement in this regard on that day, Natesan had said that this organisation, which would be a secular collective, would come into existence by December.

The plan is to launch the political party at the end of the Samatwa Munnetta Yatra (Equality Movement Yatra), an all-Kerala march Natesan will lead in November-December.
