Sketches of Naved's cronies out

The NIA on Tuesday issued sketches of two absconding accomplices of captured Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Naved and announced a cash reward of `5 lakh on their heads. The agency released the sketches of Pakistani terrorists Zargham alias Mohammed Bhai aged about 38-40 years and Abu Okasha (17-18 years).

“These accused persons are accomplices of Mohammed Naved, who was caught alive and accused of attacking a BSF convoy in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir on August 5, 2015. They have crossed over into the Indian territory with the intention to commit terrorist attack. They are wanted in NIA case,” the NIA said.

Both Zargham and Okasha are residents of Hazara Khyber Paktunkhwa in Pakistan.

The agency said any person from public, who gives any fruitful reliable information about the whereabouts of these terrorists leading to their arrest will be rewarded and their identities will be kept secret.

Meanwhile, Naved was subjected to lie detector and narco analysis tests here after he had made ‘contradictory and misleading’ statements during his interrogation about his Indian contacts and the route taken by his group to infiltrate India.

Naved was brought to Central Forensic Science laboratory at the CGO complex under tight security and kept in isolation for some time before being subjected to these scientific tests, sources said.

Officials from various security and intelligence agencies were present during the tests in their bid to get vital leads on the local support network of the captured jehadi. The detailed analysis reports will help unravel the larger conspiracy of lashkar-e-Tayyeba and it latest subversive designs against India and the outfit’s sleeper cells in the country, the sources said.

The NIA also took DNA and voice samples of Naved. The test reports and the samples will be confronted with the Pakistani delegation visiting the national Capital early next week for the NSA-level talks. Pakistan has so far denied that Naved is a citizen of that country.

NIA sources said collecting the DNA samples of the militant from Faisalabad in Pakistan could help in proving his nationality. Islamabad has been insisting that Naved is not a Pakistani national.

During the interrogation, Naved had said that his module comprised 20-25 people.
