The Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) has announced to launch a massive drive against the sale of Chinese products across the country. To begin with, the SJM will start a three-month drive in all the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP) where it will burn all kinds of Chinese products at select places being sold and available in the region.
Tagged as Swadeshi Sankalp Ratha Yatra, it will begin on Wednesday from Varanasi which is also the constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and end on September 25 by marking the birth anniversary of BJP ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhaya at his birth place Ballia.
"We will burn Chinese products which is affecting our traders. And by this we want to give message beyond the idea of Make in India. We want to promote Made by India," said Ajay Kumar, Organiser, Swadeshi Jagran Manch of Eastern UP.
Kumar, who has also penned a book titled Rs Chunauti Aur Vikalp', is the chief organizer of the three-month-long event and has roped in people from across the party lines. "This programme is certainly beyond party politics. Today, Chinese products are hampering not only our business but also affecting our day to day lives since their products are not so good when compared to our own manufacturers," Kumar, an expert in Swadeshi economy, said while briefing about his event.
In his book, Kumar has cited the importance of Swadeshi by quoting the legendary JRD Tata who had said "if India does not develop then Asia will be vanished". "After months of research and thought, I decided to go ahead with the idea of Swadeshi which the best idea for economic development of India which still lives in rural areas as conveyed to us by Mahatma Gandhi," Kumar said.
For the event, a Chariot has been developed which will tour across Allahabad, Chitrakoot, Amethi, Rae Bareily, Kusinagar, Ghazipur and culminate at Ballia, bordering Bihar.
