Though Kerala remained in total lockdown mode on Saturday, there was no dearth of ambulances blaring their sirens rushing Covid-19 patients in critical condition from their homes and front line treatment centres (make shift dispensaries exclusively for persons afflicted with the pandemic) to nearest medical colleges.
Despite the two-day total lock down in the State which came into operation in the early hours of Saturday, by evening the Government said in a release that 12,456 new cases were logged by the end of the day.
The pandemic claimed 135 lives taking the death toll to 13,640 till date. There were 1,03567 patients cross the State undergoing treatment for the pandemic. Though the average Test Positivity Rate showed 10.39 per cent, there were 88 regions in the State were TPR was more than 24 per cent which means these areas would be under Triple Lock Down mode till the situation improves.
