Senior BJP leader and former Governor of Sikkim V Rama Rao passed away in Hyderabad on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was 81.
He breathed his last on Sunday afternoon at the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad where he was undergoing treatment for multiple complications.
Born on December 12, 1935 in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, a soft spoken and suave Rama Rao had started his political career with Jana Sangh, the political wing of RSS in 1956. He was elected to the State legislative Council four times from the Graduates Constituency and also served the BJP as its state President. He was Governor of Sikkim from 2002 to 2005.
