Sikh farmers in Gujarat reject 'free legal aid' offer

Published on:

Making it clear to the politicians that “lawyers cannot be thrust upon”, the Sikh farmers in Gujarat — facing eviction — have turned down the “free legal aid” offers of both the Congress and the Akalis.

They have categorically asked the politicians of both the parties not to score “brownie points” over each other, adding that the “politicians can’t thrust lawyers upon citizens in garb of providing legal aid”. The farmers, in a statement signed by 21 of them, minced no word to say that they could “never even think of engaging lawyers of Parkash Singh Badal’s choice” till the time SAD is in alliance with the BJP.
