Giving a new impetus to the raging controversy over the letter by some Members of Parliament to President Barack Obama, Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi has confirmed that he and many other MPs had indeed signed the letter.
Owaisi, who is president of a Muslim political party, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, said that he and many other MPs had signed the letter against issuing US visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Describing the letter as a part of efforts to fight Modi “at all levels”, Owaisi said that he had signed the letter in December last. “But I am not able to understand why some of the MPs were denying it after having signed it,” he said.
Owaisi said that the letter was brought to him by Independent Rajya Sabha member Mohammed Adeeb. “Where is the need to lieIJ There is nothing to hide,” he said.
