Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched a blistering attack on her Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath for tagging the Indian Army with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Hours after the UP Chief Minister attacked the Congress for treating terrorists with Biryani while “Modi ji’s army feeds them with bullets and bombs,” Banerjee retorted saying the remark had shocked her.
“It is shocking to hear the UP CM saying that the Indian Army is the ‘Modi Sena’,” Banerjee tweeted adding the Yogi’s statement had only insulted the Army. “Such blatant personalisation and usurping of our beloved Indian Army is an insult and a humiliation,” she said.
“We are proud of our Army. They belong to all. They are a great asset of our nation and not a cassette of the BJP,” Banerjee said adding people of this country “must stand up and reject this statement.”
Another Trinamool leader Firhad Hakim said “this proves how the Modi Government is politicising the Army to win elections. They are not only politicising the Army but also using it for their narrow end. This will only evoke hatred from the people of India.
Meanwhile in an unrelated and unprecedented development the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal was literally forced to leave the venue of a meeting between Special Police Observer for the State Vivek Dubey and opposition parties when a delegation of the BJP refused to speak to the in front of the CEO accusing him of “playing a partisan game.”
Expressing no-confidence on State CEO Aariz Aftab the Bengal BJP delegation led by senior leader Mukul Roy “refused to take part in a discussion with Dubey in presence of the CEO as we had no doubt that whatever we bring to the notice of the Police Observer will be relayed to the TMC or the State Government in two minutes if he remains present in the meeting.”
