Shivpal fires fresh salvo at Ram Gopal

Published on:

Shivpal Yadav, the rebel Samajwadi Party leader and warring uncle of party president Akhilesh Yadav, has fired a fresh salvo at his arch rival and cousin brother Ram Gopal Yadav. Ram Gopal has been accused of being authoritarian, confusing and misleading Akhilesh Yadav, driving a wedge within the first family of the party and solely responsible for the worst ever debacle of the party in the recent Assembly elections.

Officially the letter named as “letter missile” has been written by former party spokesman Deepak Mishra a trusted lieutenant of Shivpal Yadav.  He has also challenged the political wisdom of Akhilesh Yadav of contesting the recent Assembly election in alliance with the Congress.  “Samajwadi party can win the Assembly elections on its strength and it needs no crutches,” said the letter.

Accusing Ram Gopal Yadav of demolishing the moral standards and socialist values of the party, the letter demanded an end to the humiliation of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav and other old and committed leaders and cadre of the party. Reminding Ram Gopal Yadav of his previous letter Deepak Mishra said “You ignored my previous letter and your silence amounts to admission of guilt.”

The letter seeks to question the loyalty of Ram Gopal Yadav towards the party president Akhilesh Yadav.

“In September last year you had signed the order removing Akhilesh Yadav from the post of State president of the party. Had you been loyal to Akhilesh  Yadav then you would politely refused to comply with the directive of the then SP national president Mulayam Singh Yadav,” said Deepak Mishra.

He added “You could have argued with Netaji against his directive for removing Akhilesh  from the post of State party president. Muylayam Singh trusted you and he would have relented but you issued the letter and later created the political drama which ultimately complicated the political situation in the party.”

“Your political machination of driving wedge between father and son, pitting elder brother against the younger brother provided a golden opportunity to our political rivals to level all kinds of dirty allegations against the top leadership of the Samajwadi Party  but you maintained silence  and the party had to pay a heavy cost during the Assembly elections,” said the letter.

He also accused Ram Gopal Yadav of deliberately spreading confusion and misinformation over the face of the party for the Assembly elections.

“After Mulayam Singh said that the elected MlAs would decide the next chief Minister, Shivpal Yadav made a categorical statement that he himself will propose the name of Akhilesh for the post of Chief Minister and none in the party opposed Akhilesh, yet Ram Gopal Yadav created the confusion by asking his cronies to raise the demand for declaring the face of the party for the Assembly elections’’.

The letter accused Ram Gopal Yadav manufacturing a fake crisis in the party over the leadership issue.
