Taking cognisance of the “anti-Muslim” remarks made by senior Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam at the NDA’s election rally on Monday night, the Bandra Kurla Complex police on Wednesday registered an FIR under Section 153 (A) and (B) of the IPC and Sections 123 (3),(4) and Section 125 of the Representation of People Act for his alleged “provocative speech” at the election rally.

While section 153 (A) of IPC deals with promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, section 153 (B) pertains to imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration.

A day after Kadam made “anti-Muslim” remarks at the NDA rally held at the Bandra Kurla Complex here on Monday night in the presence of  BJP’s PM nominee Narendra Modi,  the Election Commission brought to the notice of the BKC police about the “provocative speech” allegedly delivered by the Sena leader at the rally.

Speaking at the NDA rally, Kadam had alluded to the Azad Maidan riots in Mumbai in 2012 and virtually handed a threat to sections of Muslims based in the city. “These Muslims attack our police personnel and burn their vehicles. They vandalise the martyr’s memorials. They molest our women police personnel. We do not tolerate these kinds of acts by Muslims. If some people outrage the modesty our mothers and sisters in a manner they did at the Azad Maidan, Narendra Modi will not let them go unpunished”.
