A day ahead of the CBI producing former media baron Peter Mukerjea before a city court for seeking his further custody, his son Rahul Mukerjea met the investigating agency officials on Sunday and handed over some documents reportedly used by his late girlfriend Sheena Bora to “blackmail” her mother Indrani Mukerjea.
Rahul, who was meeting the CBI officials for the fourth consecutive day and spent nearly three hours with the investigators, will in likelihood be made a witness in the Sheena Bora case.
Informed CBI sources said that the documents which Rahul handed over to the CBI were the ones that his late girlfriend had used to “blackmail” her mother Indrani.
Sources said that Rahul was co-operating fully with the CBI in connection the Sheena Bora murder. The CBI officials have been questioning ever since they arrested Peter on Thursday evening on charges of murder, conspiracy and destruction of evidence in the case.
In its application seeking Peter’s custody, the CBI charged Peter that he conspired with wife Indrani Mukherjea in the murder of the latter’s daughter from her first marriage Sheena Bora, that he had destroyed the evidence like mobile phone and other items belonging to his slain step daughter and that he had “misled” his biological son Rahul that Sheena was very much “alive” in “doing well” in the US.
Rahul has ever then defending his father, Peter. After initially expressing “shock” over the CBI’s charge that his father had known about the murder of Sheena and saying, “I don’t believe he knew (anything about the murder). Otherwise I wouldn’t be here (in the court),” Rahul on Saturday said, describing the charges against his father as “outrageous”. On the third consecutive day on Sunday, Rahul said that his father was “absolutely innocent”.
The investigations have revealed that Sheena used to “blackmail” her mother that if she did not give her a 3 BHK flat in the city, she would expose her by telling people that she was Indrani’s daughter, and not sister, as was being claimed by the prime accused (Indrani) in the case.
Indrani, who had initially claimed to Peter that Sheena was her sister, had disapproved of Sheena’s “amoral” relations with her step-brother Rahul, who is the son of Peter from his first marriage with Shabnam Singh. “Three BHK flat Sheena ko mil gaya hai,” was the first sentence that Indrani reportedly came up with, after sedating and strangulating Sheena, according to the chargesheet.
