The already jolted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received another shock after one of its founding member, Shazia Ilmi, revealed that she may quit the party on Saturday. The prominent leader of the rookie party expressed that the party's top leadership has made several mistakes in the recent times. Seemingly unhappy with the party's numerous flip-flops, Ilmi also said that the party needed to reinvent itself.
She is likely to make the big announcement on Saturday in a media briefing at 1 pm. In the press conference she is likely to announce her resignation from the party. As per a TV channel, Shazia Ilmi has been very disappointed with the parties strategies and said that it needed to think of fresh ones.
Ilmi has been away from the party's activities and meetings ever since its General Assembly debacle.
She was the AAP candidate from Ghaziabad where she lost the elections like most of her party colleagues. The relation of Ilmi with the AAP had off late turned into a fragile one with frequent dissidence between the two. Earlier, she was unhappy with the ticket distribution for the general elections when she was asked to fight in Rae Bareli against Sonia Gandhi. She instead wanted to fight from a seat in Delhi, but was later given Ghaziabad.
AAP spokesperson, Ashutosh however denied any such news saying that the party had not received any such communication from her. "We have no idea about this. If the news is true, we have nothing much to say. But we have not received any formal communication on this," said Ashutosh. Ilmi was however unavailable for comments as her phone was switched off.
