The hearing on the bail petition of JNU student Sharjeel Imam could not be heard. There was a strike in the court regarding the nomination of the bar election.

Due to this, the hearing was postponed again. Now the case will be heard on 17 December.

A protest was held at the AMU on January 16 over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In this, JNU student Sharjeel Imam gave a statement to divide the country. On 26 January, a case of sedition was filed at the Civil Line police station in Aligarh after its video went viral.

Lawsuits were also filed in Delhi and Assam. Delhi Police arrested Sharjeel Imam from Jehanabad in Bihar on January 28 and sent him to Tihar Jail. Assam police took Sharjeel with him before the lockdown.

The Delhi Police then brought him on a production warrant. He has been in Tihar jail since then. Senior Advocate Ale Nabi said that a petition has been filed in the court of the Sessions Judge. The hearing was scheduled on Monday.

However, the hearing in the court was postponed and now it will be on December 17.
