Pune: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to a private hospital in Pune on Monday after experiencing pleuritic pain following a bout of cough, his daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule said.

The 85-year-old leader was taken to Ruby Hall Clinic, where he is undergoing medical tests. Sule, who is also the NCP (SP) working president, said in a post on X that all his health parameters were stable.

Dr Purvez K Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, said Pawar's condition was expected to settle down. He would remain under observation as a precautionary measure, Grant added.

Pleuritic pain refers to chest pain that typically worsens during breathing, coughing or sneezing.
