BJP chief Amit Shah on Monday lashed out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on dynastic politics and said the BJP believed in politics of performance while the Congress banked on the “politics of appeasement and dynasty”.
In his inaugural address at the party’s National Executive meeting, Shah said President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice- President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reached their position due to their work and merit, despite their humble origins.
Taking on Rahul for his remarks on dynasty in the country during his recent visit to the US, Shah said the Congress vice-president had undermined India. “The Congress believes in the politics of appeasement and dynasty, whereas BJP follows politics of performance,” Railways Minister Piyush Goyal quoted Shah as saying. “Both the Congress and Rahul disapprove of the politics of performance, but the BJP will continue to work for the country on the basis of such politics,” Shah said.
The BJP president also discussed the recent stand-off with China in Dokalam near Sikkim and said India displayed its perseverance and decisiveness to the entire world. The party chief appreciated External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s speech at the United Nations and said she had exposed Pakistan.
Attacking the TMC Government in West Bengal and the left Government in Kerala for alleged political violence targeting the BJP workers, Shah announced that he would launch a 15-day padyatra in Kerala from October 3 to October 17.
Shah said what the Congress-led UPA could not do in ten years that was accomplished by the BJP Government in three years.
The high-powered meeting attended by all top leaders of the BJP including Prime Minister, also passed a political resolution resolving to make corruption-free, caste-free and separatism-free country.
The resolution was moved by BJP General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav and seconded by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi and Party General Secretary Ram Madhav.
On the economic front, the resolution said GST brought ease of doing business in the country and introduced the concept of ‘one nation one tax’.
It pointed to the “tough stand” against terrorism and separatism by the Modi-Government. “In last 6 months, many terrorists have been neutralised, which has led to downfall of the morale of terror establishment. The exemplary sensitivity demonstrated by security forces worth mention and deserves compliment. People of Jammu and Kashmir have also appreciated the work of the Government", it said.
The PM has given priority to flood relief and developmental schemes in Jammu & Kashmir. The announcement of Rs 80,000 crore development package, 2 AIIMS, IIM, IIT, 5 medical colleges; an engineering college for Jammu and Kashmir will give an impetus to fast development of the State, the resolution said adding these schemes have led to confidence building in Jammu and Kashmir.
The continuous efforts of the Government in taking strict action against sources of foreign funding and hawala traders in aid of separatists are commendable.
The actions of the current Government have confirmed to the common citizen that this Government is willing to take tough measures against terrorism, it noted.
On resolving the Doklam stand-off with China, the resolution said it’s sign of mature politics and diplomatic victory of the Government.
