Despite the BJP top brass’ repeated instructions for the MPs and party leaders for effective use of social media, most of the saffron party leaders in Assam are yet to make optimum use of the social media tools to reach out to the people of the State.

BJP president Amit Shah recently pulled up the social media team of the party in Assam for not going aggressively on social media like facebook and twitter and asked the team to develop “quality content” to be posted on social media to reach out to the voters ahead of the next year’s lok Sabha polls. Shah has also appealed to all the party leaders to make optimum use of social media to connect to the people.

Shah who had visited the State last week held a special meeting with the social media team of the party here. “The national president has asked the social media team to develop quality contest for social media so that we can connect to the people ahead of the lok Sabha polls. He has also asked us to avoid controversial issues and rather highlight the issues concerning national interest,” said a senior party leader.
