Blaming the ruling Samajwadi Party for bad law and order in Uttar Pradesh, national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah gave the call of “Bhajpa Yukt Uttar Pradesh” sending the message loud and clear to party workers that the BJP would sweep the next Assembly elections in State.
“During the lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi had given the call of ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’. People obliged him by giving him a decisive mandate. Elections are expected in Uttar Pradesh in next two years. Congress does not have a presence here. Get ready to make it a ‘Bhajapa Yukt Uttar Pradesh’,” Shah told party workers in an open meeting held at the lawns of Saraswati Shishu Mandir here on Tuesday.
For Shah, who was the in-charge of Uttar Pradesh during the lok Sabha elections, it was his maiden visit to the State capital after being nominated as the national president of the party. It was the time for the party workers to show their might and they exhibited it in full force as they descended on the Shishu Mandir ground to listen to the BJP chief.
He said that law and order in Uttar Pradesh was bad and the Samajwadi Party Government was solely responsible for this.“The way the Government is acting, no one can stop the BJP from getting absolute majority in the next Vidhan Sabha elections,” Shah said prompting the workers to erupt in slogan shouting.
“look at this party and how it is behaving. This party constituted its own committee and sent the same to Saharanpur to find the facts that led to riots in which three people were killed. The report came on expected lines. This report has exposed the Samajwadi Party as to how it can use its official status for political gains,” Shah said.
He talked about bad power scenario and aggravating flood situation in Uttar Pradesh. “Has Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visited the flood-hit areas. Has Mulayam Singh Yadav met flood-affected people,” he asked.“Yadav Sr goes to airport to receive Amar Singh. This shows his priority,” he said.Shah asked the party workers to go to the flood-affected regions and share the pain and agony of the people. “Strengthen your base at the village-level. You are the people who ensured party’s victory in UP during the lok Sabha elections and will replicate the same in the Vidhan Sabha,” he said.
Realising that the party was facing flak over the slogan of achche din he said that Modi would control inflation and bring good days for the people. “Mark my words, Modiji is a very hard task master. He neither takes rest nor allows anyone else to do so. So the transformation is imminent,” he said.
Earlier, Shah was given a rousing welcome when he came to the State capital. All the roads from the airport to party headquarters were decorated with saffron colour flags and festoons. He was also presented a memento by the party workers.
