SFI attack outcome of policy of hatred pursued by RSS and BJP: Rahul

Rahul Gandhi, MP and former president of All India Congress Committee blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP and the RSS for  the ills facing the nation.

Speaking to reporters at Kalpetta in Wayanad on Friday after visiting his parliamentary constituency office which was vandalised by the activists of SFI recently, Gandhi said the attack was the outcome of the policy of hatred pursued by the Prime Minister, Home Minister, RSS and the BJP.

The Congress leader was careful in his words and did not mention the names SFI or the CPI-M even once during his brief interaction with the media. “The office was attacked by some children.

I don’t have any anger or hostility towards them, They are children and acted in a haste without bothering about the consequences,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Referring to the Supreme Court verdict which was delivered on Friday in the Nupur Sharma case, Gandhi said the apex court itself had said that there was a sense of anger and hatred prevailing all over the country and blamed the BJP and RSS for the same.

“Yes, it is my office which was attacked by the children. But more than that it is the office of the people of Wayanad that has been attacked. But the culture of the Indian National Congress is to unify the people through peaceful manner. Violence does not have any place in our plan of things,” said Rahul Gandhi. Though it was expected that Gandhi would come down strongly on the CPI(M), he did not name either party or its student wing even once in his statement to media. The Wayanad MP was accompanied by Leader of Opposition V D Satheeshan, KPCC President K Sudhakaran, former chief minister Oommen Chandi, AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal and other leaders of the party.

Kerala woke up on Friday to news that CPI(M) head quarters AKG Centre at Thiruvananthapuram has come under attack last night. An unidentified person rising a two wheeler threw an explosive/cracker at AKG Centre around 11.30 pm last night.

There were no casualties or any untoward incident. The CPI(M) cadre retaliated instantly by vandalising Congress offices across State.

The statue of former prime minister Indira Gandhi was desecrated by CPI(M) cadres at Alappuzha. E P Jayarajan, convener of the LDF, had blamed the Congress for the attack on the AKG Centre though by morning he toned down the intensity of his charges.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has constituted a high level team of IPS officers and more than 1,000 cops to hunt down persons behind the attack on AKG Centre at Thiruvananthapuram.

At time of going to Press, Rahul Gandhi was leading a road show at Sultan Battery as a mark of solidarity with the people who want the scrapping of the Supreme Court verdict  ordering every protected forest, national park and wildlife sanctuaries across the country should have a mandatory eco-sensitive zone of a minimum one km starting from their demarcated boundaries.

Rahul Gandhi’s soft approach towards the CPI(M) is being seen as the emergence of a strong alliance between the comrades and the Congress (excluding Kerala).
