In a tragic incident, a 7-year-old boy died after he accidentally fell into a sewer in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Thursday evening. According to a senior police official, the deceased has been identified as Raja Babu, who used to stay with his parents and younger sister in Hauz rani area.
Police said Babu was playing with his cricket ball which fell into the sewer. "Since he could not get any help from others, he tried going down the sewer but fell into it in his attempt to take out the ball and drowned," said the official.
After an hour, three persons going by the sewer saw babu floating when they raised an alarm and fished him out of the sewer. A call to the police was immediately made and the victim was rushed to the nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile, Babu's parents were also informed. He was then taken to AIIMS mortuary.
