Seven schoolchildren have been killed after their bus skidded off the road and fell into deep gorge while returning from the school in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday. Seven students have been critically injured in the accident, which triggered panic in Kashmir where four deaths occur on an average every day.

The students of Moral Public High School, Dyalgam village were returning home after spending the day at the school when their ill-fated bus skidded off the road at Kandiwara village and rolled down into a 300-feet deep gorge.

The conductor and the driver of the bus are also critically wounded.

Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and leader of Opposition Mehbooba Mufti have expressed shock over the tragic accident.
