Seven persons, including two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in a grenade blast in Anantnag district of south Kashmir on Thursday.
A police spokesperson said terrorists hurled a grenade on security forces at Sherbagh Chowk in Anantnag which resulted in injuries to five civilians, including three women, and two CRPF jawans.
“The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment,” police said.
“Police have registered a case in this regard and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the incident,” he said.
There has been a spree of grenade attacks on security forces in the past two weeks. A day before the Republic Day, at least half a dozen blasts occurred in south Kashmir and summer capital Srinagar. The authorities said terrorists are desperately trying to establish their presence in the region.
