With two days plenary session of the All India Congress Committee to start from Saturday, the Congressmen here in Uttar Pradesh are agitated over the manner in which the leadership elected or co-opted the members for Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) or for All India Congress Committee (AICC).
The leaders are planning to take up the matter at the right platform to expose some associates of State president Raj Babbar who according to them had ignored the seniority and even the present status of the leader before facilitating a berth in the PCC or AICC. Interestingly, sources maintained that both state president Raj Babbar and AICC general secretary, Ghulam Nabi Azad, were sure of their removal from the job sometime after the plenary session, had reportedly asked the Party president Rahul Gandhi to relieve them from their posts immediately. Though no official confirmation has been made but sources said that both met Rahul in New Delhi just before the start of Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Friday noon and offered to quit from their posts.
“Just like the tickets in the recent corporators elections were sold by just few office bearers close to Raj Babbar, the PCC and AICC berth has been also given for a Rsconsideration’ by the same leaders “, asserted a senior Congress leader who is presently general secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee but his name was missing from both the lists. “The PCC and AICC list was neither provided to media or even to the Partymen but through our sources, we learnt that many of the junior faces were given place ignoring the seniority as well as the work done by many leaders”, alleged the leader.
The leader claimed that the manipulation in the list is clearly evident if one learnt about the names that were there in AICC list. “Mehdi Hassan and a local leader from lucknow who also contested last Assembly elections both had their names included in the AICC list even when they were presently facing suspension from the Party due to disciplinary action”, the leader pointed. He also mentioned that a very senior leader from Barabanki had done all his job to get his name included once again in AICC list but he was surprised to find his son’s name their in his place.
