Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar of the Shiv Sena on Monday created a stir in the State political circles by likening Prime Minister Narendra Modi to German dictator Adolf Hitler.
In an interview published in a city afternoon paper, Ambekar said that while she looked up to Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, she admired Modi’s style of functioning which, she said, was more like that of Hitler.
“I admire Narendra Modi for his self-reliant way of working, but at some level I feel his rule is quite Hitler-shaahi. This is bound to happen when power is concentrated in the hands of one man,” she said.
On Uddhav, the Mayor said: “Mr. Uddhav Thackeray is someone I look up to because he has no air of superiority like other politicians I have seen. He is down-to-earth and is striving towards Balasaheb’s vision of a better Mumbai”.
