Debunking the ruling BJP demand for an apology from Congress president Rahul Gandhi for Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s comment that MP's "youth" were losing jobs to migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Shiv Sena on Sunday demanded to know from its senior alliance partner as to why it did not apologise for the manner in which north-Indians were beaten up and driven out of Gujarat a few months ago.
In a signed article written in Shiv Sena’s mouth-piece “Saamana”, the Sena spokesperson and newspaper’s Executive Editor Sanjay Raut ridiculed the manner in which the BJP made an issue of Kamal Nath’s decision to accord priority in jobs to local people and make it mandatory on new industries to reserve jobs for local people.
Raut wondered as to what wrong Kamal Nath had done in stating MP's "youth" were losing jobs to migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. “A controversy broke out after the new CM of MP made a statement to this effect. The BJP made an issue of it even in Parliament. The BJP men demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi. A few months ago, hundreds of youths from north India were beaten up and driven out of the BJP-ruled Gujarat on the issue of north-Indians cornering jobs there. At that time, the BJP did not tender any apology”.
